JMH Blood Bank announces the "Operation Silent Hero" blood drive today from 10am-6pm at the Abingdon Police Department - Downtown. The drive is in honor of all the fire departments, police departments, sheriff's departments, EMS, and state police in our 5 county blood service area (Washington, Smyth, Wythe, Grayson, and Carroll). Pledge a unit of blood in honor of their silent sacrifice! The National Bone Marrow program will also be present to sign up bone marrow donors. Every donor gets a prize donated by local businesses and a commemorative "Operation Silent Hero" t-shirt. Hot dogs also provided. The blood drive is sponsored by Washington County Sheriff's Department, Abingdon Police Department, and Johnston Memorial Blood Bank, plus many area merchants.
