Galax Public Library to Sponsor Free Music Program “Anna & Elizabeth: Music Around the Home” On Saturday, January 14, at 2:00pm, Floyd County banjo and fiddle player Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Smyth County ballad singer Elizabeth LaPrelle will present their brand new program “Music Around the Home” at the Galax Public Library.
This show is a new kind of traditional music performance that weaves traditional ballads and songs, as well as fiddle and banjo tunes with storytelling, handcrafted images and pieces of theater—marionettes, shadow-puppets, woodcuts, collage, and sewn scrolls called “crankies.”
Join us for songs and stories that center on the home and of days gone by! “Music Around the Home” is a program that appeals to all ages and is free and open to the public. In the event of inclement weather, listen to WBRF, 98.1 or WPAQ, 740 AM for possible cancellation information.
The Galax Public Library, located at 610 West Stuart Drive, strives to meet the information needs of the citizens of the City of Galax and the surrounding area.
